Our Press page may be helpful. Also, consider contacting our Marketing Director, David O'Neill. Why don't you have a podcast? Many listeners have been asking us to make A Prairie Home Companion available as a podcast. We do have the monologue, The News from Lake Wobegon available as a podcast through a partnership with Audible.com. The reason we cannot offer the whole show up for podcast is that we feature many different bands and musicians on our show. As such, their intellectual property is being broadcast to the listening audiences. We would have to get each artists' permission, not only to distribute their music in this way, but they would also have to be comfortable with the fact that it could be shared easily. There is a podcast of The Writer's Almanac, however. Why don't you post shows from before 1996? The short answer is this: We don't have agreements with performers or unions to post any of the earlier shows. There are two shows from 1985 available in the site archives, because they were rebroadcast in September 2001. When rights were secured to rebroadcast those shows, they were simultaneously secured for transmission on the Web. When are you going to make more whole-show audio available from old shows? There was a time when we thought we would add links to all the shows in the archives so every one of them would be available for free in its entirety. We recently posted all the 1997 whole-show links. We may add more links at a later date, but for now that project has been stopped. Can I download the show and save it to a CD? A Prairie Home Companion is not available for download or sale on a week-to-week basis at this time. Many shows are available through our catalog at http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/shop/ The News From Lake Wobegon segment of the show is available for purchase (1-month or 12-month subscriptions) from Audible.com.
