Character and Skit Ideas

Michelle Gonzales-Lambarski and Greg Graham write:

Dear Mr. Keillor, Howdy from Las Vegas Nevada. It got up to 72 today. Happy Spring! I am responsing to your request for feedback on the show. First, I would like to say, please no fart jokes. We appreciate the show for its subtle humor. Second, I would like you to know that my boyfriend and I are 23 and 24. I think that may be considered young so don't despair. Here's an idea... Try talking to a 12-19 year old about the slang that they are using nowadays. I'm not sure what you can do with it, but its so strange, I'm sure there is room for humor in there somewhere. I guess slang always has been strange.... hmmm.... As far as politics goes...we loved the imitations and skits done in political leaders' voices around election time. Quite choice. I'm sorry to hear that people don't want to hear about politics in a humorous context. I find politics extremely difficult to listen to without laughing. I'm all for politics in the show. It's too drear a subject NOT to laugh at. On the other hand I do have a problem with too much religion. Its been a long time since I took a creative writing class...a title for your new book...my dad is writing a short book on Christian values in children's literature right now and he is having the same problem. I told him I would draw the cover picture, but I wouldn't help him find a title. That has to bee one of the hardest and most personal parts. I hope others will be more help. I can draw you a picture if you want. Or did you say that was already being taken care of? I am currently trying to get into the book illustration business. Well this letter is getting long and is not as interesting or witty as I would have liked it, but thanks for taking the time.

Sincerely, Michelle Gonzales-Lambarski and Greg Graham

PS. It may please you to hear that Greg and I don't own a TV and your show is the sole entertainment on the agenda every Saturday without fail. Thank you.

The teenage people I get to hear are still saying things like, "That is SO COOL" which was said back during my childhood in the Eisenhower administration. I mean, like, where's the new slang? GK
